How To Prepare A Good CV?

Some points to remember while creating your CV

  • Present your Skills and Experience clearly- Highlight any prior experience and skills that correspond with the course you are applying for clearly.
  • Make your CV readable- make sure that your CV is easy to read, use simple and professional language and check for any grammatical mistakes.
  • Use reverse chronological order- Always list the most recent experience on the top followed by previous ones for internships, work experiences and educational qualifications.

Photograph

  • A standard passport size photograph with plain background.

Personal Information : Include only the following details

  • First name and Surname
  • Address
  • Telephone
  • Email
  • Nationality
  • Date of Birth (DD/MM/YYYY)
  • Skype ID

Work Experience: Add separate entries for each relevant position occupied, starting from the most recent.

  • Date: Duration of the held position.
  • Occupation/ Or Position held
  • Main roles and responsibilities : Include details that correspond to the current course for which you are applying. Example: Applying for Robotics, coding and knowledge of computer knowledge should be displayed.
  • Name and Address of the employer (Company Name)
  • Type of Business/Sector:

Work Experience 1

  • Date: December 2019- January 2020
  • Position held: Software Development Intern
  • Main roles and responsibilities:

-Designed an application for searching through XYZ’s codebase using search API, Galene.

– Designed and developed frontend with features like IDE mimicking, facet selection, search directives and typeahead.

– Devised and implemented various statistical techniques to account for user behavior in

document ranking algorithms.

– Implemented Regex search on the application using Java Parsing (using ANTLR) for    metadata.

  •   Name of the Employer: XYZ Company
  • Type of business/sector:Computer Software Service

Include Further work experience(if any) in the same manner.

Education: Add separate entries for each completed course, starting from the most recent.

  • Date : Duration of the course( Year of joining and completion)
  • Title of Qualification Awarded : Include the whole detail. Field of Graduation is important.
  • Principal subjects/occupational skills covered : If applying for a Management course, write about the course like business administration/Economics/Finance/ Human Resource Management taught in Bachelors.
  • Name of institution providing education and training

Example 1: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

  • Date: 2017-2021
  • Title of Qualification Awarded– Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • Principal subjects/occupational skills covered: Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Software Engineering , Computer Graphics, Artificial Intelligence etc.
  • Name of institution providing education and training: University of Delhi

Example 2: CBSE 12th Board- Senior Secondary

  • Date: 2017
  • Title of Qualification Awarded: Senior Secondary
  • Principal Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science
  • Name of the Institution: Delhi Public School, New Delhi India.

Include Further educational details like Matriculation in the same manner and start from the highest education qualification achieved.

Internship: Add separate entries for each relevant internship experience you have completed, starting from the most recent. You may include workshops attended, skills acquired through coursera etc.

  • Principle task covered: Skills that would be helpful in the course for which you are applying. Example: If Applying for Computer Sciences, website design internship would come in a handful.

Include Further internship and training details (if more) in the same manner.
