SAT
Scholastic AssessmentTest(SAT) is a standardized test required for admissions in undergraduate courses mostly in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. The test is administered by the College Board and is a written based examination that is conducted to evaluate the written,verbal and mathematical skills of the candidate.
There are two types of SATs connected by the College Board, SAT -1 that assesses the written verbal and mathematical skill of the candidate, on the other hand, SAT-2 is a subject focused test where a candidate has to take tests for a particular subject.
Candidates can appear 5 times for SATs in India per year.
SAT tests basic knowledge of a student acquired during their school over the years.So, it doesn’t require any special preparation.
Writing Section
- Essay section – 25 mins
- Multiple choice sections – 25 mins and 10 mins
Critical Reading Section
- Reading comprehension – 25 mins
- Sentence completions – 25 mins
- Paragraph-length critical reading – 20 mins
Math Section
- Algebra and functions – 25 mins
- Geometry Statistics – 20 mins
- Probability and Data analysis – 20 mins
Total score is 1600 with duration of 3 hours 50 minutes. Colleges offer fee- waiver and scholarships based on their SAT scores. SAT scores are valid for a period of 5 years.
