Cost of Studying in Austria?

  • If you are a non-EU/EEA student, federal/public universities in Austria only charge about 726.72 Euros per semester for tuition fees plus 20.20 Euros per semester for student union membership fee “ÖH-Beitrag” and the student accident insurance fee.
  • An exemption from paying tuition fees or a full/partial refund of the tuition fees is possible in special cases (e.g. for holders of certain scholarships, for participants in exchange programmes and university partnerships, for students from certain countries). Student Life in Austria

The Austrian university system is extremely relaxed. With free education and no limit to the length of your degree, students tend to take their time. Public transportation, whether by train, bus or tram, is the most convenient and easiest way to travel in Austria. One metro or bus ticket for a single fare is around 2 EUR, while monthly transport passes cost between 30 – 50 EUR. You can also use your student card to get discounts. The social life in Austria is great. The culture and atmosphere is very distinct and vibrant, people go out to socialize, prioritizing having a great time with friends.
